New York and New Jersey mesothelioma lawyers, Levy Phillips & Konigsberg, LLP, have filed a lawsuit on behalf of a resident of New Jersey who was exposed to industrial products that contain Asbestos from his occupational duties as a parts picker for General Motors. The New Jersey man was diagnosed with mesothelioma, from Asbestos exposure, at the age of forty-nine while living in Glen Ridge, New Jersey. Only a year after his diagnosis, he died.
The plaintiff was employed by General Motors in the 1970s where his responsibilities included picking parts such as brakes, clutches, gaskets, and other industrial products from the warehouse to fill customers' orders. Research has determined that Asbestos in brake dust and other parts can result in mesothelioma. The New Jersey man was exposed to
industrial products that contain Asbestos on a regular basis during his time as a General Motors employee. The plaintiff also received secondary-exposure to Asbestos while living with his father, who was also employed by General Motors.
This mesothelioma lawsuit was filed in Middlesex County Court of New Jersey, which is located in central New Jersey, against the companies responsible for the plaintiff's mesothelioma from Asbestos exposure.
Asbestos is the only known
cause of mesothelioma. Asbestos exposure, unfortunately can be common in certain environments, such as those that involve industrial products. At one time, exposure to Asbestos in brake dust, gaskets, and other products used in the automotive industry, was quite common. Mesothelioma is a lethal form of cancer that occurs primarily in the lining of the lungs and the abdomen. Mesothelioma typically occurs at least fifteen years after a person's first exposure to Asbestos. Asbestos fibers are microscopic and exposure can occur without a worker's awareness even if protective gear is worn. Mesothelioma occurs not only in people who work directly with Asbestos products, but also in bystanders and family members exposed to Asbestos dust.
Mesothelioma lawyers at LPK have prosecuted similar lawsuits on behalf of victims who were exposed to industrial products that contain Asbestos for over two decades.
